Description: Assess executive functions, learning skills, and psychological resources in adolescents The ASPI is a researched-based survey of adolescents’ personal assessment of the executive functions, learning skills, and psychological resources needed for academic achievement and personal well-being. It yields rich, useful clinical information—not diagnoses—that clinicians and counselors can use to more effectively help adolescents in school or clinical settings. To each of 105 items, adolescents provide two responses: one relating to frequency (possible responses range from not at all to almost always) and one relating to problem severity (possible responses range from no problem to major problem). The ASPI reveals adolescents’ self-perceptions in a way that other methods typically do not, making it the perfect companion to other commonly used behavior rating scales such as the BASC™, Conners, BRIEF®, and ASEBA®. In addition, the ASPI taps adolescents’ perceived strengths. The measure was developed over a 5-year period with 1,100 students and 105 administrators, student advisors, teachers, school psychologists, psychiatrists, and learning specialists. It can be used by psychologists, counselors, physicians, and any other professionals who work with adolescents.
