Description: Assess visual memory in individuals ages 7-15 and 18-80 years and older The CVMT uses complex, ambiguous designs and a recognition format to measure visual learning and memory. Three tasks help assess visual memory The CVMT utilizes a task format that increases task sensitivity and reduces the confounding influence of verbal encoding strategies. It eliminates the motor responses required by drawing tasks and restricts the verbal labeling required by tests that use simplistic geometric figures and common objects. Features an Acquisition Task that tests recognition memory, a Delayed Recognition Task that measures retrieval from long-term storage after a 30-minute delay, and a Visual Discrimination Task that distinguishes visual discrimination deficits from visual memory problems. The clinical sensitivity of the CVMT has been demonstrated in patients with unilateral right hemisphere cerebral vascular accident (i.e., stroke), individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, and patients who have suffered severe head trauma.
